Hello everyone!
Udhaya here, the owner of Thenkaraisaaral Farms in Mathipalayam. Today, I’m excited to share a glimpse into our daily activities on the farm.
Early Morning Start
Our day kicks off at 5:30 AM with the milking of our two cows, Azhagi and Sivappi. This essential task is handled by our dedicated team members, Sudhakar and Rajamani Anna, who ensure we get the best quality milk.
Caring for the Rabbits
By 6:00 AM, Sudhakar turns on the lights in the rabbit area to prepare for feeding the young ones. The rabbits are separated in the same cage by a partition, allowing us to open doors in the morning solely for feeding. The milking mothers are also given pellets during this time.
Morning Feeding Routine
At 8:00 AM, Lalitha and Sudhakar provide green fodder to the rabbits, ensuring they receive the best nutrition. Meanwhile, Sheela tends to our layer hens and pigeons, feeding them pellets after cleaning their shed. After this, she joins Lalitha and Sudhakar in the rabbit production unit to clear out the waste, which we promptly throw onto our land where we cultivate green fodder, using it as natural manure.
Midday Maintenance
After the morning chores, we use a pressure washer to clean the floors, maintaining a hygienic environment for our animals. We take a tea break to recharge before resuming our tasks.
Afternoon Activities
Following lunch, we monitor the weight of the animals in the grower cages and check on the quantity of bunnies with their mothers. This is crucial for ensuring their healthy growth.
Evening Routine
Around 4:00 PM, we begin cutting green fodder for the next morning’s feeding. From 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM, all animals receive their pellets, and by 6:00 PM, the lights are switched on for the evening.
Wrapping Up the Day
Sudhakar makes sure to turn off the lights at 10:00 PM, marking the end of a busy day at the farm. Each day brings new challenges and rewards, and we’re grateful for the opportunity to nurture our animals and contribute to sustainable farming.
Thank you for joining me on this journey! Stay tuned for more updates from Thenkaraisaaral Farms.
